The staff at Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Associates, PC includes 4 physicians, 5 mid-level providers (PA and NP), RNs, LPNs and medical assistants. We emphasize a team approach to ensure that patients get high-quality care coordinated with other physicians.

Richard C. Starlin, M.D.

Dr. StarlinDr. Starlin received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine followed by residency and fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis through Washington University School of Medicine.  Before joining Infectious Disease & Epidemiology Associates in 2004, he had experience in both private practice and as a hospital epidemiologist in Missouri and Kansas.  Along with his current private practice at IDEA, he also serves  serves as a Hospital Epidemiologist at several Alegent Creighton hospitals as well as Nebraska Orthopedic Hospital.  Along with general infectious disease care, he also focuses on orthopedic infections, infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship.

 

 

 

 

David S. Quimby, M.D.

Dr. QuimbyDr. Quimby earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. He completed residency in Internal Medicine at University of Illinois at Chicago and went on for further fellowship training in Infectious Disease through the joint fellowship program at University of Illinois/University of Chicago. He has been employed with Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Associates since July of 2006. Dr. Quimby focuses on orthopedic infections, HIV/AIDS along with his general infectious disease practice.

 

 

 

 

Jeffrey S. Sartin, M.D.

Dr. SartinAfter completing his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine, Dr. Sartin completed Internal Medicine Residency at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and went on to fellowship training in Infectious Disease at Mayo as well.  Some of his early experience included serving as Chief of Infectious Diseases at Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews AFB, and Internist and Infectious Disease Physician, and Chief of Internal Medicine at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany.  Prior to joining IDEAS, he also spent time at Hutchinson Hospital in Kansas and Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center in Wisconsin.  Dr. Sartin’s practice includes general infectious disease care, with a focus on travel medicine and the history of medicine and infectious diseases.

 

 

 

 

Joong Young Kwon, M.D.

Dr. KwonDr. Kwon joined Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Associates in July of 2013. In addition to general infectious disease care, his special interest is on immunocompromised hosts.  He earned his medical degree from Seoul National University, College of Medicine, in Seoul, South Korea.  Dr. Kwon also completed a transitional medical program at Seoul National University Hospital, then continuing on for internal medicine residency at University of Hawaii in Honolulu.  He also completed a geriatric medicine fellowship while at University of Hawaii and earned a second fellowship in infectious disease at Creighton University/University of Nebraska in Omaha.

 

 

 

 

 

Angelika Stevens, PA

Angelika StevensAngelika has more than ten years experience as a physician assistant.  She earned her Bachelor of Medical Technology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Masters of Physician Assistant also from  University of Nebraska Medical Center. Prior to joining Infectious Disease & Epidemiology Associates, she also served as a P.A. in pulmonary medicine, infectious disease and plastic surgery. She spends a majority of her weekdays on Dr. Kwon’s team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sarah Hennings, PA

Sarah GuinaneSarah completed her B.S. in Life Science from Kansas State University and her Masters of Physician Assistant from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  She joined Infectious Disease & Epidemiology in January of 2013 and regularly assists Dr. Starlin.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rachael Cushing, PA

Rachel Johnson

Rachel Cushing is a physician assistant (PA) for Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Associates.  She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and completed her Master of Science, Physician Assistant Program at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine in Chicago. Before joining IDEA in 2007, she was a PA in the Houston, Texas area.

Rachel is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and joined Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Associates in July of 2013.  She earned her B.S. in Nursing from College of Saint Mary in Omaha and her Masters of Science in Nursing from Creighton University.  She mainly assists on Dr. Sartin’s team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tiffany Kalin, NP

Tiffany is a Nurse Practitioner and joined Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Associates in April of 2016.  She earned her B.S. in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and her Masters of Science in Nursing at Clarkson College in Omaha.
